Starting from 2022, CinematograFica realizes its film festival “Mai Mute”, a monthly review focused on the most diverse issues related to feminisms, by inviting experts and filmmakers and choosing to screen independent productions.

The festival has taken place in its first two editions in Florence (@La Compagnia), with a talk+screening format, in an open dialogue with the audience.

“Mai Mute” films selection gives space to works realized by female directors and non-binary genres and privileges independent productions, made by young directors from film schools, that deal with feminist topics in an original and modern way.

Among the guests of the two editions of “Mai Mute”: the film critic Eugenia Fattori, the trainer Karen Ricci, the filmmaker Maria Iovine, the activists Elisa Manici and Isabella Borrelli, the researcher Elisa Cuter, the dj Whitemary, the film critic Attilio Palmieri, the journalist Marta Perego, the actress Teresa Cinque.

Mai Mute
2023

The second edition (January – May 2023) was entirely dedicated to the deconstruction of romantic love, in a journey that started ‘on the other side of violence’, screening two films about the circles of abusive men and ended with the presence of writer and activist Mona Eltahawy at the final event.

In March, “Mai Mute” held its first international screening, thanks to the partnership with Eden Paraiso, a Cape Verdean association that reopened the cinema in the capital Mindelo after 30 years, with the screening of “Medusa” by Anita Rocha da Silveira, scheduled for the third event of the edition, on Wednesday 8 March.

The second edition of Mai Mute was realized with Le Plurali, Nosotras Onlus, Entre dos Mundos, Sentiero Film Factory.
