We are opening an international call for short films to be part of SUPERTITLE, a collaborative project that explores subtitling as a critical, creative and inclusive practice, runned by CinematograFica, SudTitles and ReFOCUS Media Labs.
SUPERTITLE approaches audiovisual translation as more than a technical tool: it is a way to interpret, transform, and re-signify moving images, engaging with questions of accessibility, language and power.
Selected film will take part in a collective subtitling workshop and will be presented in two public events in November-December, taking place one in Italy and one in Greece.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are interested in short films that engage with:
- Feminist, transfeminist and queer perspectives
- Themes related to body, identity, labour, care, relationships and dissent
- Structural violence and imaginaries of resistance
- Accessibility, translation and re-signification of images
We welcome works of any genre, language and format (fiction, documentary, experimental, hybrid)!
REQUIREMENTS
- Maximum duration: 20 minutes
- Digital video file
- English subtitles in .SRT format
- Availability to engage in a possible process of subtitle adaptation within the project
- Films produced starting from January 2020
WHAT WE OFFER
Selected film will:
- be part of a collective subtitling and re-elaboration workshop
- be presented in public events (November- December in Italy and Greece), including a curated screening context with international audiences, film professionals and cultural and social practitioners
